Officer at SkyddC
Do you have an academic degree and want to become an officer at SkyddC?
If you have an academic degree and meet the qualifications listed below, you can be employed as an officer without first completing officer training. The position includes up to 20 months of special officer training (SOFU) with salary. You will study to some extent alongside the cadets enrolled in the FHS Officer Program. Once you have completed your studies, you will work as an officer at the Total Defense's Protection Center.
SkyddC in Umeå is the Swedish Armed Forces' knowledge center for protection against CBRN incidents. The CBRN Company is the Armed Forces' primary resource in the CBRN area, and our personnel are trained to handle tasks of high complexity, both in everyday situations and during crises and wars. In addition to readiness and operations, the company also leads conscription training to assign soldiers to the army, navy, and air force.
We are looking for you who want to work as an officer (instructor) at SkyddC, basic training company, with primarily the following initial tasks:
- Conduct conscription training focused on CBRN.
- Support the planning of conscription training.
- Assist in training related to command, reconnaissance, decontamination, and medical care.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Academic degree of at least 180 credits from a university or college, including a written thesis of at least 15 credits. Foreign degrees must be validated by UHR.
- Approved military basic training (Conscription/GU/GMU).
- Driver's license B.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Basic computer and systems knowledge.
- Your values align with the Armed Forces' core values and code of conduct.
- Good physical condition according to FMFysS.
- Meets our requirements and is suitable for the profession according to the officer regulation. All requirements are outlined in the Armed Forces' qualification profiles.
Personal qualities
You are a person who takes responsibility, seeks and drives your tasks, is dynamic, supports where needed, and sees the entire Armed Forces as your workplace in a future officer career. The work requires you to handle stress constructively and maintain a good mood under pressure and setbacks. You are collaborative and solve problems from a holistic perspective without getting stuck in details. You also see logic and connections in complex information or environments and need to have the ability to prioritize among your tasks. You have pedagogical skills and are a role model who enjoys leading people to cooperate and perform their best. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
MERITORIOUS
- University degree in natural sciences, leadership, or pedagogy.
- Experience from the Armed Forces in the form of service as a continuously employed soldier.
- Experience with the Armed Forces and good insight into what is expected of you in your upcoming employment as an officer.
- Leadership experience from professional life or voluntary work.
Other
The recruitment process includes, among other things, testing at the National Service and Examination Agency conducted in Stockholm, Malmö, or Gothenburg. If you proceed in the recruitment process, you will undergo interviews and security checks at SkyddC. Additional tests may be required.
Employment form: Permanent employment 100% with a 6-month probationary period.
Work location: Umeå. Travel in service occurs nationally and internationally.
Start date: By agreement.

The Total Defense Protection Center, SkyddC, in Umeå is the Armed Forces' knowledge center for protection against radiation, infection, and toxic incidents, known as CBRN events. The unit not only develops the Armed Forces' units in this area but also ensures capability across the Armed Forces' other components. SkyddC therefore works with both training and development issues and is responsible for maintaining national and international preparedness in the area. The center's function is defense-wide, which means ongoing cooperation with several authorities within our area of expertise. At SkyddC, over 140 civilian and military employees work. The unit's budget amounts to approximately 140 million kronor per year.
